The very consistent J122, Jackpot, has won the 2009 Edition of the CYCA’s Grant Thornton Short Ocean Pointscore in IRC Division 1.

The win confirms the promise shown by Jackpot when it won the 2009 Autumn SOPS.  Jackpot is equipped with an 155 sq. m. asymmetrical spinnaker and IRC optimized carbon racing sails and from Ian Short Sails.

The TP52 Shortwave, also equipped with Ian Short Sails, recorded a third place in IRC Division 1 making it 2 out of 3 for Ian Short Sails in IRC Div 1.

The Crew of Jackpot

Going into the sixth and final race of the Series, three yachts were tied on points for first place on IRC. Jackpot, sailed by Ray and Sandra Entwistle, needed to win by two places to secure the series for IRC Division 1.

The series was fought out closely across a wide range of wind conditions from 6-8 knots to 35 knots. Jackpot’s worse placing was a third – underlining her consistency.
